Child Visibility research presented at Data for Policy 2026

Bringing the Index into the research community

At Data for Policy 2026 in Barcelona, the Child Visibility Initiative will present the conceptual architecture of the Child Visibility Index and the evidence base that underpins its dimensions. The session situates measurement not as an end in itself, but as a practical instrument for earlier prevention across child protection systems.

The presentation focuses on how administrative invisibility emerges when data systems fragment across education, health, social services, and justice. By making those gaps comparable across jurisdictions, the Index offers policymakers a shared language for prioritising interventions before family separation becomes the default response.

Engagement with the Data for Policy community also opens the framework to peer scrutiny. Feedback from researchers and public-sector practitioners will inform refinements to indicator packs and documentation released later in the 2026 programme cycle.
