Child Visibility Index methodology note published

Documenting how indicators are chosen and weighted

The Initiative has published a methodology note that sets out how Child Visibility Index indicators are selected, how weights are applied across dimensions, and which safeguards protect children while improving system visibility. The note is intended for technical partners responsible for data production and quality assurance.

It describes the criteria used to accept or reject candidate indicators, including coverage, reliability, and relevance to prevention outcomes. Weighting choices are explained in plain terms so that ministries can see why certain gaps — for example, delayed cross-agency referrals — carry greater influence in composite scores.

A dedicated section covers privacy, aggregation thresholds, and publication rules. The note also outlines how partners can propose revisions when national data systems change, ensuring the Index remains both comparable and locally meaningful.
